Turkey Drops Four Places in FIFA World Rankings

Turkey’s men’s national football team has fallen four positions in the latest FIFA world rankings, moving down to 31st place. The team’s October total stands at 1,563 points.

The change leaves Türkiye outside the top 30, although the latest standings show that several of its opponents in UEFA Nations League A, Group 1, have held their positions. France remains third with 1,958 points, Belgium is eighth on 1,779, and Italy continues to rank 15th with 1,713.

There was no movement at the top of the table. Spain leads with 2,011 points, followed by Argentina on 1,972. France is third, while England stays fourth with 1,925 points.

Portugal was among the teams to climb, advancing two places to fifth with 1,807 points. The changes reflect the latest update to the FIFA ranking, which measures national teams’ results and assigns points according to the importance and outcome of their matches.

For Türkiye, a four-place slide does not necessarily point to a major decline in performance. FIFA rankings can shift as teams gain or lose points and as other countries’ results alter the order. Even a modest difference in points may lead to several places changing hands when teams are close together in the standings.

The ranking is also relevant to the national team’s competitive outlook. Türkiye’s position provides a snapshot of how it compares internationally, while the standings of France, Belgium and Italy offer additional context ahead of meetings with those sides in the Nations League group.

The points total is not the same as a match result or a prediction of future performance. A team can remain competitive on the pitch while slipping in the rankings, particularly when other national sides have earned strong results during the same period. For that reason, the table is best read alongside recent form and upcoming fixtures.

Türkiye will have opportunities to improve its standing in future international matches. Positive results can strengthen its points total, while performances against highly ranked opponents may carry particular weight. Consistency across a run of fixtures is likely to be more important than any single update.

FIFA’s next official men’s world ranking is scheduled to be announced on Wednesday, 18 November 2026. Until then, Türkiye remains 31st with 1,563 points, four places below its previous position.
