Marius Mouandilmadji Joins Olympiakos
Samsunspor has officially announced the transfer of striker Marius Mouandilmadji to Greek club Olympiakos. The move was completed only a few hours before the Greek Super League’s 2026-27 summer transfer window closed on September 15, 2026.
The transfer brings an end to the Chad international’s successful spell in Samsun. Mouandilmadji joined the Turkish side in the summer of 2023, shortly after Samsunspor secured promotion to the Süper Lig. Over the following two seasons, he became one of the team’s most important attacking players and a major fan favorite.
In its farewell message, Samsunspor praised the forward for his physical strength, relentless work rate and constant desire to score. The club highlighted his contribution to the team’s rise in Turkish football and its subsequent success in European competition.
Mouandilmadji played a decisive role in Samsunspor’s UEFA Conference League campaign. He scored eight goals and provided three assists, making him the player with the highest combined goal contribution for the club in the tournament. His performances helped Samsunspor make a lasting impression on the European stage.
The club also emphasized the striker’s ability to perform in high-pressure moments. His direct style, powerful presence in the penalty area and determination made him a consistent threat to opposing defenses. Samsunspor thanked him for his commitment, team spirit and effort before wishing him success at Olympiakos.
A productive spell in Samsun
Since arriving in Turkey, Mouandilmadji has featured in 119 matches for Samsunspor and scored 44 goals. Those numbers underline his importance to the team, particularly during its transition from a newly promoted side into a club capable of competing in Europe.
The 28-year-old enjoyed the most prolific season of his career in 2025-26. He appeared in 52 matches across all competitions and found the net 23 times. His eight goals in the Conference League placed him second in the tournament’s scoring standings.
His consistency was especially valuable during a demanding campaign that included domestic league fixtures and European matches. Rather than being used only as a traditional target forward, he regularly contributed through his pressing, movement and ability to hold up the ball.
Mouandilmadji’s career path
Before moving to Turkey, the Chadian striker began his professional career with Porto and Aves. He later continued his development in Belgium with RFC Seraing, where he gained experience in a more physically demanding football environment.
His transfer to Samsunspor in 2023 proved to be a turning point. In Turkey, he established himself as a regular starter and gained greater responsibility in the final third. His goals played a key role in the club’s progress and helped raise his profile beyond the Süper Lig.
Olympiakos has now secured a forward who brings both experience and recent form. The Greek club will expect him to strengthen its attacking options, particularly in matches where physical presence and efficiency inside the box are decisive.
What Olympiakos can expect
Mouandilmadji’s main strengths are his power, acceleration over short distances and ability to compete with defenders. He is comfortable receiving the ball with his back to goal and can create space for teammates by drawing defenders toward him.
His finishing record also suggests that he can provide a reliable goal threat. The striker is particularly dangerous when attacking crosses and loose balls in the penalty area. His willingness to continue competing until the final whistle can make him useful in close matches.
At Olympiakos, he is likely to face increased competition for a starting place. The club regularly competes for domestic honors and carries ambitions in European tournaments, meaning squad depth will be essential throughout the season.
The move may also offer Mouandilmadji the opportunity to play at a higher competitive level. Regular appearances in Greek football and European fixtures could further increase his international recognition and provide a new platform for the Chadian national team forward.
For Samsunspor, the departure represents the loss of one of its most influential players, but it also marks the conclusion of an important chapter. Mouandilmadji leaves after helping the club return to the Süper Lig, establish itself in the division and achieve a historic European campaign.
His record of 44 goals in 119 appearances ensures that he will be remembered as one of the prominent attacking figures of Samsunspor’s recent era. Olympiakos, meanwhile, will hope that the striker can reproduce the confidence and efficiency that made him such a decisive player in Turkey.
